In Ancient Rome, tickets to the Colosseum to watch the gladiator shows were free, but everyone had to have a ticket to gain entrance. Where you sat was according to your social status.
This token features a Roman gladius and the Colosseum. Gladiators got their name from the gladius – it means sword fighter.
Viking/Saxon era Coins
Our Viking coins are replicas from the reigns of Eric Bloodaxe, King of Jorvik (Viking sword), Canute, King of all England, Norway and Denmark (Raven), and Hedeby, a port in Denmark (Longship).
