Queen Eleanor Academy, Northants
I just wanted to send you a quick email to let you know how impressed we were with the workshop that Dom delivered today.
He was so passionate and enthusiastic and was able to offer the children so much more than I possibly could.
Every teacher around school commented on how engaged the children were and how fantastic he seemed. But most importantly, the children absolutely loved it!!

Glemsford Prim Academy Suffolk
I just thought I’d send you a message to say thank you for your services today. Ian was absolutely brilliant, he had the children and staff totally engaged right from the start. We absolutely loved all the activities, especially the armour talk in the afternoon he really did bring the history to life. He also had complete control of the children’s behaviour from the start which was great. We’d definitely book for him to come again – I just have to wait for the next history topic to come around! He was also a great sport when the children were quizzing him about the Horrible Histories television series.

Three Peaks Academy, Staffs
From the moment Dom arrived this morning, he was fantastic! The children were enthused, excited and fully engaged throughout the whole day. His subject knowledge was great and his clear enjoyment of history really came through as he spoke to our Y6s. After spending the rest of this week sitting SATS tests, this really was just what the children needed- it was so lovely to see them laughing and joining in with activities. I am particularly grateful that Dom took the time to get to know a child with additional needs- he made sure that he felt at ease and involved him at all times. On behalf of Three Peaks, I want to thank Dom for spending the day with us; as a result of your visit our children left for the day smiling. We hope to see you again next year!

William Fletcher Primary, Oxon
I just wanted to tell you how fantastic we thought the workshop was yesterday, and how brilliantly we thought you ran it!
The children were engaged the whole time, which is not easy at this time of year, and were clearly enjoying every activity. The pace and timing of each part was exactly right for them. There was a good balance between listening and participation, and lots of information was retained. In the words of Ofsted – it was outstanding! I will try to improve my history teaching based on your example.

St James, Richmond
We all would just like to thank you again for an absolutely fantastic day. You were so knowledgeable and fun, the children were engaged the whole day!

Ravensdale Primary School, West Midlands
I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time our Year 4 children had with Dom and the Romans Workshop on Thursday 15th June.

As usual, Dom arrived early and set himself up before the children came into school.  His enthusiasm and knowledge was second to none. He also brought lots of artefacts for he children to see.  It was really great at the start to be able to take all the children’s photos in front of the map that he brought with him – it made a great picture in the children’s books. All the children absolutely adore Dom and were so excited to see him again, after he had delivered the Stone Age and Greeks workshops last academic year. All the children were fully engaged the whole day, soaking up Dom’s every word and being immersed in the day.

So, thank you again and we will be booking up again for the next academic year.

Wow! What an amazing informative day. Our Saxon man was simply amazing from the way he interacted with the children to his delivery of the workshop.. He literally had the children and Staff hanging on his every word. I will be recommending Portals to the Past to as many people as I can. Thank you for a truly brilliant day!

Mablins Lane Community Primary School, Cheshire
I just wanted to drop you a line to say how fantastic our Greek day with Ian (AKA ‘Poly’) was yesterday.

It was amazing the number of activities and amount of information that was included and the range of styles it was presented in, Ian clearly knew his subject well  and is passionate about it. It was wonderful that he could drop little extra bits of information in and engage with the children so well. In comparison to experiences I have had in the past where ‘lines’ have been delivered by rote but lacking enthusiasm and knowledge.

I have to admit that I was hesitant about bringing a workshop into school, but this surpassed all my expectations. We would recommend you to anyone. As a team, we would like to thank Ian again for such a brilliant day.

Just to let you know we have just had a fab visit with the Egyptian Workshop today.

Stoneydelph Primary School, West Mid
Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Dominic to our school to work with our children and give them some experience of the history of Ancient Greek. I have to say it was an absolute pleasure, he is an outstanding historian and educator and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough. The children have loved every second of it and have been thoroughly engaged throughout the day – even those that find staying on task difficult at the best of times.

Today has given our children a fantastic experience that we could never have even come close to giving them. We cannot expect our children to write about something that they have no experience of and by imparting his expertise onto the children they will now be able to do just that. At the end of their literacy work they will be writing their own myths and we would like to send a few examples for Dom to see, if that is ok. We have also taken dozens of photos – literally – during the day and would like to share some of those with you too.

Again, I cannot recommend Dom enough, it has been an absolute pleasure to have made his acquaintance today and I hope that our paths will meet again in the future.

The children were kept busy all day with a range of activities. The dressing up helped create a great atmosphere. A really enjoyable day. Thank you.

Dominic has been fantastic today (as always) and has delivered yet another amazing day of Viking activities for the children.  The pupils have been enthralled, engaged and delighted and loved each experience.  Dominic’s approach and style is exactly what we want and the pupils (and staff!) have laughed and learnt all day.  A huge thank-you again to Dominic who really does go above and beyond.
