Medieval history workshops for primary schools
This entertaining one-day workshop provides insight into medieval life from 1066 to 1483.
Baron Hugh de Guerre will lead pupils through a range of themed activities, which include medieval dancing, jousting, learning about the early medieval “arms race” and how weapons were developed.
The children will also get to see and handle a range of real archaeological finds and high quality reproduction artefacts from the period.
The day starts with a short talk on the early medieval period, covering late Saxons into the Norman period, the rise of the Plantagenets, through to Richard III and the famous Battle of Bosworth.
This is followed by:
- A medieval quiz
- The Booke of Curtesye
- Medieval hierarchy and artefacts
- Arms, armour and their development from the Norman conquest to the crusade period
- The grand tourney – a medieval jousting game
